Nissan Frontier has two major trucks in the lineup, namely D40 and D22. They’re manufactured in South America, North, and Central Americ, as well as Philippines. The production line of Nissan trucks started in the year 1998. The immediate forerunner for Nissan frontier was Nissan D21; the hard body truck. The sales of Nissan frontier’s D22 series were terminated in Japan, when the production of D21 kicked off.
Nissan Navara, the hard body truck, had been the style tycoon since 1986, and Nissan D21 truck followed the lineup, and it was regarded as the smallest pickup truck during its launch. After a long time, the second generation truck Nissan Navara was launched in the market and the sales of the vehicle went up to 2005. The Nissan Navara was ranked as a compact size truck. Now, the Nissan Navara is considered as midsize truck.
D22 Series
The Nissan frontier was launched in the year 1997 and sold as 1998 model. The Nissan frontier is a replacement for Nissan’s hard-body truck. Initially, the Frontier came with four cylinder engine with a V6 engine in 1999.
In 2000, the Nissan launched another truck – the Frontier Crew Cab, in four door body style. These crew cabs were full size trucks with heavy duty options, utilized for commercial purposes.
D22 Frontier (1997-2000)
The D22 Frontier was manufactured in Japan from the year 1997 to 2000. There were several versions launched during this period; the current versions of the D22 frontier are Crew Cab, Single cab, King Cab. These cabs have petrol and diesel engines with 5-speed manual transmission. One could find the choice of 2.4 liter and 3.3 liter V6 engines with two wheel drive and four wheel drives.
D22 Navara
The D22 Navara was manufactured from 1998 to 2004; it was a compact size truck manufactured at low scale; the entry version of D22 Navara had a 3.2 L engine with diesel and the second version had four engine options.
D40 series
The D 40 series was introduced in the year 2004, and sold as a 2005 model. Initially, the Frontier D-40 series was considered compact car lineup, but due to its structural appearance; it became more mid-sized.
D40 had wheelbase of 125.9 inches and 205.5 inches. The towing capacity of the vehicle was 6500 lbs.
D40 Navara
The D40 Navara is the cab version of Frontier sold in Malaysian markets since November, 2008. The Nissan Navara is equipped with a 2.5 L diesel engine capable of delivering 128 KW of torque and available with a 5-spped auto-transmission. The six speed manual transmission version was launched after a while, and in the Thailand markets, Nissan Navara made its entry into the markets during the year 2008.
2010 Navara Facelift
Nissan released the images and other details of the 2010 Nissan Navara facelift with the concepts of Pathfinder. The 2010 Navara has 3.0 L-V6 turbo engine capable of generating 240 hp at 2500 rpm. Pathfinder facelift and Nissan Navara V6 can produce 170 KW and 550 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm.
Nissan Frontier 2011
Nissan Frontier 2011 is one of the rare trucks that is capable of doing tough work on highway and actual hauling. It is equipped with a 2.5 litre DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine that generates 152 hp at 5,200 rpm and 171lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. 2012 Nissan Frontier
Nissan Frontier 2012
Nissan Frontier 2012 design is almost same as 2011 Frontier with negligible enhancements. The vehicle is equipped with 2.5-liter engine that generates 152 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. The standard features of this vehicle include leather upholstery, moon-roof, heated front seats, and auto-dimming inside mirror.
